Latest Presidential Polls

The U.S. Election 2008 is really heating up and the latest presidential polls show what we have always known would happen with a little bit of surprise thrown in.

Although there is a lot of hype surrounding Illnois Sen. Barack Obama, he is still way behind New York Sen. Hillary Clinton. In fact, Hillary Clinton at the moment is beating him hollow in the latest presidential polls and there seems to be no doubt that she is outperforming him in Democratic primary as well as in head-to-head matchups.

On the other hand, the Republican voters clearly have the money behind former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Mike Huckabee.

According to the latest USA Today and Gallup Poll, Hillary Clinton has 39 percent of the Democratic votes while Barack Obama is way behind with 24 percent; followed by John Edwards at 15 percent and Joe Biden and Bill Richardson at 4 percent each.

The Republican presidential polls show Rudy Giuliani ahead of the pack with 25 percent, Mike Huckabee at 16 percent and John McCain at 15 percent. Fred Thompson is also at 15 percent while Mitt Romney and Ron Paul are way behind of the pack and will either have to come up with a miracle or hope for the best.

The state polls have a different story to tell. Among the Republicans, Fred Thompson is still popular in the south while Rudy Giuliani will have to struggle. Rudy Giuliani must be wondering where he went wrong especially after falling from almost 40 percent just a few months ago. Mike Huckabee has suddenly emerged as a strong contender from no where and is gaining in all the states. John McCain still needs to work hard in the more populous states and there is no doubt that he will not be a strong contender in the southern states.

Among the Democrats it comes at a surprise in the latest presidential polls that John Edwards is not doing too well in the South because he is considered a southern lad.
